I have a couple of friends who always raves about the TV show "Mad Men", so I started to watch it. The first two seasons I got the DVDs and watched it. It's a good show, like the fashions and of course I like the jewelry that they were. Of course Jon Hamm is pretty easy on the eyes!! lol Ok, back to the DVD part, it's nice to get them on DVD for the fact that in the special features area, they have a time line feature that talks about some of the things that have happened in the 60's. I think that is interesting!
I've been watching the 3rd season online. Last night I watched the second from last episode. Boy was it emotional. It cover the assignation of John F Kennedy. How the people had felt at the time. I was just a kid at the time and I remember how emotional I had felt!

Just Some Ramblings...

I can't believe how time flies...I been keeping up with Facebook, but not here. I guess I'm going to have to work harder on keeping this up.
I got notice that I was accepted to do the Bead Journal. I was going to do it last year, but got bogged down with other commitments.
This past Friday (12/18/2009), The Loomatics, a great group of ladies that I bead with, got together for a little Holiday get together. The hostess for this get together made some great soup, had a salad and other little treats. It was a very nice night and when we left it was snowing.

Rain, Rain and still more Rain!!
Rain rain go away come back another day! Gee..it's rain so much in the last couple of days I feel like I should be forming webbed feet! In some places it's like rivers have formed!! Oh well..at least it's not snow!!!
I can't wait! Tomorrow is our meeting for the guild. We have "Bead Daze" Wednesday thru Saturday! Our teachers this year will be Huib Petersen, Stepanie Eddy, Marcia DeCoster, Dallas Lovett and Rachel Nelson-Smith. Tuesday night we get to meet with them. Usually they have question and answer period.
This year I'm taking Huib's "Sweet Pea" necklace. The picture of it is just goreous. It's a butterfly on one side and sweet peas on the other side. Just beautiful. This is a two day class, because it is worked diagonal and tubular peyote stitch, plus herringbone stitched is used in the neckband.
Then Friday and Saturday I'll be taking Dallas Lovetts classes. Friday is "Phonenix Rising" pendant. Saturday's class is "Crystal Symphony Bracelet". Both classes centers around Rivolis and sterling silver with seed beads. I just can't wait!! We've been trying for along time to get Dallas to teach at out guild. He's a very popular teacher!
They're all great teachers! Actually, Stephine Eddy was the first instructor that I had taken a class with, after joining the guild. Last year I took three of Marcia DeCoster's classes. She's a very good instrustor.
Can't wait to see what kit's that I can buy from these teachers. Oh...so many beady projects....so little time!!
I think I better do some beading......I'm working on a necklace from the FEB/March issue of "Beadwork". It's a Marcia DeCoster's design called "Moonlit Rose".

I can't believe it!
Jan 12 2008 was National Weigh-in Day! (I think that's how they call it), so HAP had Weight Wise class, so I went in the morning for it. It was nice, they had a healthy continental breakfast and a guest speaker. Plus they had nurses to take your blood pressure, scales to weigh yourself, etc. They also gave you a couple of books. A cookbook and a workbook to help you keep track of what your doing and hints on how to achieve them. Which is real nice. Well, I left there a little early because Kmart has a New Day Your Way campaign. You get weighed in (which I was 6 lbs lighter on their scales! hmm). the first 50 people per store gets a free gift. Which was coupons and a workout DVD. What I should really say, it's a DVD that has three 10 minute workouts...which is really nice. and a chance to win some prizes!!
So, I figured why not! It wouldn't hurt to lose some weight. I am going on a cruise in October 08. I would like to look nice in a bathing suit and shorts! Also, tried of seeing pictures of me so big! OK...let's not run myself down and get discouraged here!
So, yesterday, Saturday the 26th. I went in and got weighed and I lost five pounds. I just watched what I ate. Tried drinking more water. Now I need to start some exercise! Truthfully, I'm surprised that I lost. The night before we had our monthly meeting of the Loomatics. And there's always these great munchies!! Deb brought these chips that she gets from Canada. They are soooo good! Somebody else brought in herb olives and cheese. Somebody else brought brie cheese!! (like they said at the Hap meeting, if you have to have it, half it!)
The meeting was great. It's always fun being with these ladies. The conversations always turns over so fast or there's two or three different ones going on at the same time...it's just a hoot!
We're doing a Round Robin Bead Embroidery Project. It's interesting what each individual person started on for their project. Me, I did the Sun and my astrological sign, which is Leo, in the center. Hopefully they'll put their signs around or who knows any sign. Maybe even a stop sign! I shouldn't say that. It'll give BadLiz some ideas! Liz is doing a moose, gee I wonder why? Sue is doing her hand. (both of these ladies blog are listed to the right) One is doing sheep, another an owl scene, a snowman and I really don't remember what else. I should have scanned mine before passing it on. This way I could have posted it, but know I won't see it again till next year!!

It's time to play catch up

Gee that BadLiz went and left another comment! Gee what's a person to do? LOL No really, she's a beading buddy and good friend! The picture to the left is the beading group I belong to. It's part of the "Greatlakes Beadworkers Guild" that I also belong to. They are some great beaders and good people to be with!
I also wanted to show what I had made for Christmas gifts (07) for some other friends of mine. I took a class with Anne Severine on Oct 19, 2007. It was her class for "Wild Roses Necklace" and on the 20th I took her class for "Saraguro Triple Triangulos Necklace". So the gifts I made are the two pictures (should be up top). I made five of the "Wild Roses Necklaces" and five key chains (yes, I know there's only four of each in the picture) and eleven pairs of earrings. The other necklace I referenced is for personal wear, hopefully I'll get it scanned and post it. Better yet, maybe I'll create a photo site of the jewelry I have made.
For Christmas my DH gave me a Rotary Tool and three kits from Ann Bensons site.

So Much To Do So Little Time!
Breast Cancer Quilt square, bead emboridered by LJCreations. Polymer Clay Leaf added in honor of Barb "Bent Needle" DavisI'm sure everybody has said that at one time or other, but it sure holds true for me. And ontop of it all, it seems I don't have anything to show how busy I've been..Oh well. That's part of life!!
In the post from Tuesday 01/26 I stated that we're doing a Beaded Quilt in honor of Barb "Bent Needle" Davis. Hopefully, I can post the picture of it. I also included a Polymer Clay leaf that she had done. (Thanks Liz for letting me have the leaf)
Last time I mentioned that I was working on a embellished cuff, well I'm almost finished with it. But, I ran out of Swarovski crystal sequins, Laura will bring some more for me when she comes into town on Feb 21 for our "Bead Daze" classes. So I'm working on her kit "That's A Wrap". It is beautiful! It can be worn as a necklace or as a bracelet. It's a peyote bezeled Swarovski 10mm Rivoli (15 0f them) in Volcano color. She has some beautiful kits. If you get a chance stop by her site and check it out. http://www.justletmebead.com
I mentioned Bead Daze, I can't wait. The Guild is bringing in Laura McCabe, Lisa Nivens-Kelly, Huib Peterson Maggie Meister. I hope I didn't forget anybody. I'm taking Huib's "Monarch Butterfly" class and Maggie's "Campania Morning Walk". Both are two day classes and both are challenging bead work pieces. That's OK, it's time I started to learn this type of beadwork.

Time Got Away From Me!
Gee I really didn't pay attention to what date it is and didn't realize that I haven't posted in awhile, until my friend told me last night. (She visited the site to see what it was about.)
My Holidays were great!! Had the week off from work. Our New Years Eve party was just wonderful. I couldn't believe all the great food!
Last week at our monthly Bead-Guild meeting. (it's in a new place, nice place, just a little further to drive) We found out that we're going to be beading a bead quilt, in honor of a former member (Barb bent-needle Davis). It's mystery quilt called "Ribbons for a Cure". I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's done. Of course this will be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to a cancer foundation. Of course I got my square!

Night at the Opera

That's what this last piece I'm working on is called. It's in the Dec05/Jan06 issue of "Beadwork Magazine". This piece was created by Diane Dennis. I'm hoping on wearing it New Years Eve. I think that I'm going to be needing some more seed beads...That box is almost empty!
I didn't go Scrapbooking on Friday. We got 4 - 6" of snow early that morning and they said we might get more. So I just didn't feel like the hassle of driving and lugging in all the stuff..Next time.
Saturday I went to Rock N' Country's Christmas dance. It was fun. A lot of dancing. Chatting with good friends and just a plain old good time!
Sunday was the Pizza Party for Rock N' Country. The pizza was good (not going to say what the service was like) and nice sitting and chatting with friends. A special little friend was there and he's so cute! He's nine months old and just adorable! He's at all the dances, you really don't realize he's there. I think it's because he was a little more awake and in a very flirting mood....To cute!
My friend is in surgery today. May God be with her and I hope for speedy recovery.

"Wedded Bliss"

Yep, that's what I call these shoes. The guild had challenge to bead a shoe.(nautrally I done both) The shoes took at least 60 hrs to bead embroider. I took second place in the"Sexy" catagory.....that made me very very happy!
I found out that I won some silver pieces on E-Bay. They're Karen Hill Tribe. Can't wait to get them....but of course I placed bids on some other pieces. LOL

Gee..It's Cold Outside.

I can't believe how cold it's been!! Later on today we're suppose to get snow. Oh well...I really can't complain. We really do need it! Huh? You say. Well Christmas is coming!
I was reading on a forum earlier about the 10 top irritating Christmas songs.
Here they are:
10. The Christmas Song
9. Here comes Santa Claus. Right down "Santa Claus Lane."
8. Adam Sandler's Chanukah song
7. Jingle Bell Rock
6. White Christmas
5. Silver Bells
4. Holly Jolly Christmas
3. The Christmas Song by the Chipmunks
2. Jingle Cats meowing "Kitties We Have Heard on High
#1 most ear-ritating holiday song is... Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer
Oh Come On!!! It's the season to celebrate, not complain. These people and their "We have to be politically correct" bull....Ok I ain't going to go there.
Boy this weekned will be a busy one for me. Friday is Scrapbooking. I really need to get caught up with all my pictures. Saturday Rock n' Country Productions is putting on a dance..Yeaa! And Sunday is our Pizza Christmas party! I hope we don't get to much snow!
Hopefully...I'll be able to post more later.
